Who We Are

Primary Steps in PE was founded by Owen Denovan, an experienced and passionate primary school teacher, in 2014 in collaboration with North Lincolnshire School Sport Network.

Our Aim

Our aim is to provide high quality PE resources for schools based on the new National Curriculum so that all children have access to outstanding PE lessons.

What We Believe at Primary Level

At Primary Steps in PE we have a strong belief that sport is for all and that every child should have access to high quality PE and extra curricular sporting opportunities. Our mission is to provide education professionals with the skills and tools they need in order to become outstanding PE practitioners.

What We Do at Primary Level

Primary Steps in PE has developed a varied and innovative scheme of work which provides children with the opportunity to acquire new skills and develop existing skills that can be applied across a wide range of activities and sports. The scheme of work we have written aims to provide children with a solid base of skills and experiences which they can build on in order to give them a better chance of pursuing a healthy life through sport. As well as offering a scheme of work Primary Steps in PE offers a wide range of support for schools who wish to develop sport and PE within their settings. We are experienced in delivering; whole school training in all areas of the PE curriculum, guidance with planning and assessment, staff mentoring and subject leader development. We are also keen to train and develop support staff and lunchtime supervisors so that everyone within school is able to contribute to the success of PE and sport in your setting.

What We Believe at Pre-School Level

At Baby Steps in PE we believe that if children start on their sporting journey at a young age they are more likely to carry on sport and be active throughout their lives.

What We Do at Pre-School Level

We use a range of fun activities to get children moving and to start to develop their skills in 3 areas:

          • Movement

          • Object control

          • Body management

We also use active games as a way to support early phonics and maths.
